Age of Imperialism

QuestionAnswer
What is imperialism? Stronger nations dominate/control/influence weaker nations.
Who are the strong? European nations, U.S, and Japan.
Who are the weak? Non-European parts of the world, Africa, Asia, Latin, America.
What were the various reasons why the nations of Europe decided to dominate the rest of the world? Political Motivation,Economic Reasons, Military Reasons, and Cultural Reasons.
What is Social Darwinism? Taking Charles Darwin's theory of evolution and appling it to human society.
How did the Europeans use this idea to justify their domination of the rest of the world? They thought that their race is superior to others so its their duty to help the world and to spread their superior culture.
Why are the strong the strong? They went through the industrial revolution, which made them very wealthy and advanced.
How is Social Darwinism associated with racism? Social Darwinist would say some human races, ethnicities, and cultures are smarter and stronger than others.
