What are the 5 pillars of Islam? -The Profession of faith -Muslims must pray 5 times a day towards mecca -Must pay the Zakat, an obligatory tax on income -Must fast during Ramanda -Should make the Hajj
Explain what the two different Sects of Islam are? Sunni- They follow the teaching of Muhammed as revealed to him by the Angel Gabriel. Shiite- They believe that Ali ibn Abi talib was the true spirtitual and polical heir to muhammed.
Who was Jesus? A teacher and son of god
What is Judaism? A relatively small world religion with fewer than 20 million followers worldwide.
Why is mecca relate to Islam? It's where the prophet Muhammad was borm
What does it mean to be Monotheistic. It means you believe in one god
What did Pope Urban II do in 1095? Called for a crusade
What is the Torah? The Jewish Scripture
What happened during the Holocaust? Nazi Germany systematically killed 6 million Jews in concentration camps
What is Orthodox Judaism? A Jew that sticks strictly to the torah
What is Buddhism? A teaching that began in India
What did Siddhartha Gautama do? He founded Buddhism
What is Karma? It determines the form in which an individual is reborn
Describe what the two sects of Buddhism. Theravada- Claims to remain faithful to the true tradition of the Buddha's teachings Mahayana- The Means of salvation available to larger number of people
What does a Prayer Wheel do? When you spin it your prayers are sent to heaven
What is Sikhism? A blend of Hinduism and Islam with about 18 million follwers
What is the Sikhism Holy Book? Granth Sahib or Adi Granth
What are the 4-Main ceremonies of Sikhism? Naming as an infant, initiation, Marriage, and Death
