Egypt

What was the Stone Age followed by? The Bronze Age
How is bronze made? By combining copper with tin.
When did the Bronze Age end? At the beginning of the Iron Age, around 1000 BC.
Why do the Egyptians consider the Nile sacred? Because it separates the Land of the Dead, from the Land of the Living; the sun rises in the east, which was the land of the living. The sun went down in the west, where the land of the dead was thought to be.
What religion did the Egyptians practice? Polytheism.
What were pharaohs? Kings of Egypt that were worshiped as gods.
How many dynasties were there? Thirty-one royal families.
Who was the best known Pharaoh? King Tutankhamen (Tut).
What are dictatorships? Where one person takes control of an entire nation, usually with military help.
What had to happen to a body in order for it to reach the next life? Mummification and religious ceremonies
What is the Sphinx? A rock sculpture with the head of a pharaoh and the body of a lion.
What is papyrus? Paper like material made from a reed plant that is pressed and dried.
Why was the Rosetta Stone important? There was a hieroglyphic message carved into it along with a Greek translation.
What is a savanna? A large land area in central and southeast Africa with grasslands and scattered trees.
What is the longest river in the world? The Nile.
What is a delta? Flat areas that form at river mouths were sediments are deposited.
What is the largest desert in the world? The Sahara Desert.
What does it separate? North and sub-Saharan Africa.
What is sub-Saharan Africa? The land that lies south of the desert.
Why do people living in the tropics typically have a darker skin color? To protect them from intense rays from the sun.
How long did the age of pyramid building last? It lasted from 2700 BC to 1000 BC.
What is a Monarchy? This is the type of "Dynasty" that has Kings, Queens, and Priests.
Why did they come up with Government? Because this was a "fair" way to make sure everyone got their fair share of water, food, and other things such as land.
Who was Queen Hatshepsut? She was the first important Queen of Egypt.
What is the God of Rebirth called? Osiris.
How long did the Ancient Egyptian Civilization last? Around three thousand years.
