What did people learn to create during the bronze age? bronze tools, ornaments, and weapons.
what inventions where created during the Bronze age? Wheel, plow, writing, money, cities, armies and chariots.
How long did the Bronze age last? From 4000 BC to the beginning of the iron age around 1000 BC.
where did civilization spread from Mesopotamia? West to the Nile River valley of Egypt.
Where did Egyptians probably learn about irrigation, plow writing, and other technologies. Mesopotamia
Egypt was called the "gift of the Nile" why? Because the river provided irrigation water, fertile soil, and easy transportation by boat.
What direction does the Nile River flow? It flows North.
What are the two main geographic features in Egypt? The Nile and Sahara desert.
How was Ancient Egypt protected? It was protected by the Sahara Desert.
How long did ancient Egyptian civilization last? It lasted for 3,000 years, from 3100 BC to 30 BC.
What was Ancient Egypt's religion? It was polytheistic.
What were ancient Egyptians important gods? Ra, god of sun and creator of life, and Osiris ,god of rebirth.
How many days were in the Egyptian calender and what was their year based on. There were 365 days and they were based on a solar year.
Who adopted their calender? The roman empire and is the calender we use today.
What were Pharaohs? They were the kings of Egypt who were worshiped as gods.
What made Pharaohs wealthy? the bountiful agriculture made possible by the Nile River.
What did Pharaohs control? A strong central government that built a massive public works such as irrigation systems.
Who are the most notable pharaohs? Ramses II, Queen Hatshepsut, and Cleopatra.
What Pharaoh is the most famous of our time? Tutankhamen or King Tut. He is the most famous because his is the only tomb not to be looted.
How many objects were found in King Tut's tomb? Over 5,000 objects in 4 rooms. Including a life sieved mask of solid gold that covered his head and shoulders.
Why did government become necessary as societies grew? To provide an orderly way to make decisions, maintain public order through police and courts and to supply services that were not provided by merchants.
What could only government ensure in the Egyptian desert? That all farmers got their fair share of water and that all farmers maintained their ditches so irrigation systems didn't break down.
What services do governments still provide that businesses don't? They maintain public water systems, and provide national defense and education.
What types of government have existed throughout history? Monarchies, Democracies, and Dictatorships.
