What country is Mesopotamia located in today? Located in present day Iraq.
What is the capital of Iraq? Baghdad
Polytheism Belief in many gods.
Monotheism Belief in one god.
Ziggurat A mud-brick temple built in ancient Mesopotamia to worship the gods.
What kind of realationship did the Mesopotamians have with their gods and religion? The Mesopotamians feared the gods becuase they could destroy them. They built ziggurats to worship them and make them happy.
How did Mesopotamians explain things that happened in the natrual world. They thought that the gods were angry at them.
Define, describe, and give examples of Hammurabi's code. Hammurabi's code was one of the one of the first written law codes. The laws dealt with everyday life. They were explained in clear statements and set standard punishments. Ex: House falls down killing family, so builder would be killed too.
Define, describe, and give examples of eye for an eye justice. Eye for an eye justice is when someone breaks a bone in a fight then he could do the same to his opponent.
Define, describe, and give examples of equal justice. Equal justice is when everyone gets the same punishment once they have been proven guilty. An example would be if someone killed someone then they would go to jail once proven guilty.
Name and explain the significance of a Mesopotamian invention to ancient people and why it is still important to us today. The wheel was significant to ancient people because they could now transport things more easily. The wheel is still important today because now we can get places quicker in a car with wheels.
Irrigation. The process of redirecting water to crops using channels and ditches.
