Compromise the concordat of worms offered a compromise between the pope and the king.
Gothic appeared in the 12th century and was perfected in the 13th. Two basic innovation made the Gothic cathedral possible.
Romanesque builders would replace the flat roof with an arched structure to create a vault.
basilica were rectangular building with flat wooden roofs.
flying buttresses was a heavy arched support of stone built onto the outside of the walls.
rites such as baptism, marriage, and Eucharist.
schism now there are 2 popes... beginning what has been called GREAT SCHISM.
