What are Bedouins? Arab herders and Nomads. They adopt their farmland. Also, they move from place to place
What are clans? Families related by blood or marriage.
Why is the Arabian Peninsula well situated for trade? (Nae at least 2) Surrounded by bodies of water, crossroads of 3 continents, and trading goods
Why did Market Towns in the Arabian Peninsula grow into larger cities? Trade
What are some products that people traveled to the Arabian Peninsula to gain? Perfumes, Copper, Incese
What does Caravan mean? A company of travelers that join together
Why was Mecca an important religious Center? Located along trade routes, Ka'aba was located there
What does Pilgrimage mean? Journey to a sacred place
What does Polytheism mean? Believed in many Gods
What does Monotheism mean? Believed in one pod
What is a Ka'aba Ancient Religious shrine located in the trading city called Mecca
What was Muhammad's call to be Prophet of Allah according to Muslim belief? Praying in the mountain tops and Angel Gabriel appeared as a messenger to Allah. He was the chosen won to be the final prophet.
What was Muhammad's rejection by Meccans, acceptance in Medina, and conquest of Mecca and the Ka'aba? Fought several battles against Muhammad and his followers in Mecca and Medina
Who was Allah? Who Arabs believed was their only god
Who was Angel Gabriel? Gave the message to Allah, that he was the last prophet (Messenger)
What was Muslims? Muhammad's followers
What is a Qua'aba? A book with God and his teachings and sermons were written in.
What are the 5 Pillars of Islam? Shahada, Salat, Zakat, Siyam, and Hajj
What is the definition for the word Shahada? Muslims profess their faith, "There only on God, and Muhammad is his prophet!"
What is the definition for the word Salat? Pray five times each day
What is the definition for the word Zakat? Charity to those in need
What is the definition for the word Siyam? Fasting through the month of Ramadan
What is the definition for the word Hajj? Pilgrimage to Mecca
