otoscope an instument used to examine the external ear canal and tympanic mambrane
presbyopia a decrease int he elasticity of the lens that occurs with aging, resulting in a decreased ability to focus on close objects
refraction the deflection or bending of light rays by a lens
tympanic membrane a thin, semitransparent membrane between the external ear canal and the middle ear that receives and transmits sound waves. also known as the eardrum.
