angiocardiography | radiopaque dye is infected and xrays are taken of the heart and arteries as the dye moves through the heart |
angiography | radiopaque dye is injected and xrays are taken of an artery or arteries |
cardiac catheterization | inserting a catheter into a vein and threading the catheter to the heart to check for abnormalities and obstructions; cardiac pressure will also be evaluated |
cardiac enzymes | a blood sample is taken to check the levels of the enzymes released when the heart muscle is damaged or heart muscle cell death |
cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (mri) | magnetic waves produce an image that's studied to detect defects |
