Epidermis | the outermost layer of the skin |
Dermis | called corium or "true skin." The layer has a framework of elastic connective tissue and contains bood vessels. |
Subcuntaneous fascia/Hypodermis | the innermost layer. It is made up of elastic and fibrious connective tissue and fatty tissue, and connects the skin to underlying muscles. |
Sudoriferous glands | coiled tubes that extends through the dermis and open on the surface of the skins at pores |
Sebaceous glands | oil glands that usually open unto hair foillecles |
Alopecia | baldness or pernament loss of hair on the ship |
Dilate | when blood vessel get larger |
Constrict | when blood vessels get smaller |
Albino | a person with an absesnce of color pigments |
Erythema | a reddish color of the skin that can be caused by either burns or a congestion of blood vessels |
Jaundice | a yello discoloration of the skin, can indicate in the blood as a result of liver or gallbladder disease. |
Cyanosis | blusih discoloration of the skin caused by ultravoilet rays from the sun to form an initial molecule of vitamin D that matures in the lives |
Macules | flat spots on the skin, such as freckles |
Papules | firm, raised areas such as pimples and the eruptions seen some stages of chickenpox and syphilis |
Vesicles | blisters or fluid filled sacs such as those seen in acne and pimples |
Crust | areas of dried pus and blood commonly called Scabs |
Ulcer | a deep loss of the skin surface that may extended into the dermis; may cause periodic bleedin and the formation of scars |
