| Term | Definition |
| Acute | Sudden onset condition that usually lasts for a short period of time, usually < six months |
| Ablation | Removal of tissue, especially by vaporization, or cutting |
| Adhesion | Abnormal binding of tissue |
| Adipose Tissue | Connective tissue made of fat cells |
| Abscess | A localized infection consisting of pus, surrounded by inflamed tissue. |
| Adjuvant Therapy | Treatment designed to be contributory, or complementary to primary therapy |
| Adverse Event | An undesirable effect associated with the use of a device |
| Avulsion | A tear, or rip |
| Chronic | A condition that lasts for a long time, usually longer than six months. |
| Contraindication | Any special symptom, or circumstance, that renders carrying out of a procedure inadvisable |
| Degenerative | Disease characterized by a deterioration of a whole, or part of a structure |
| Diagnosis | Identification of a disease |
| Dissection | Separation of tissues by cutting, teasing, or blunt division |
| Fibrous | Containing fibers; fibrous tissue is very tough, such as fascia |
| Foramen | A natural opening or passage, especially one into, or through a bone |
| Friable | Easily torn, or pulverized |
| Indications | The disease(s) or condition(s) the device is approved by the FDA to treat |
| Intractable | Resistant to control, or treatment. |
| Innervate | Supply of nerves, which connects an area of the body to the nervous system |
| Inflammation | Tissue reaction to irritation, injury, or infection, characterized by pain, redness, or swelling |
| Kyphosis | Posterior curvature of thoracic spine |
| Lesion | A wound, injury, or other destructive change in body tissue |
| Ligament | Fibrous tissue that connects bone to each other |
| Lordosis | Anterior curvature in lumbar spine |
| Refractory | Resistant to treatment |
| Resection | Excision of a portion of an organ or structure |
| Sequela(e) | A condition following, and resulting from a disease |
| Stenosis | Narrowing of a duct or canal |
