Metabolic shock | loss of body fluid from sever vomiting, diharreah, etc. |

Psychogenic shock | emotional distress such as anger fear or grief |
Respiratory shock | respiratory distress or arrest |
Septic | Acute infection |
Wound | Involves injures to soft tissue, usualy classified as open or closed |
Abrasion | this type of wound, the skin is scraped off |
Incision | a cut or injury caused by a sharp object |
laceration | involves the tearing of tissue by way of excessive force |
Puncture | caused by a sharp object such as a pin or nail. Risk of tetanus infection likely |
Avulsion | when tissues is torn or separated from the victims body |
Amputation | when a part of hte body is cut off |
Treatment for closed wounds | elevate injured body part if it does not cause more painapply ice or a cold pack(place a gauze pad or towel first)call 911 if the pt complains of sever pain |
Treatment for Open wounds | wear glovesplace sterile dressing on wound |
Treatment for lacerations | Apply direct pressure to control bleedingDo not remove dresing- apply additional layers if it is saturated |
Treatment for Abrasions | wash the wound with soap and water place a sterile bandame over the dressing |
