bronchi | Branchs of the trachea that leads towards air sacs of the lungs. |
apex | Tip of a structure. Upper portion of lung. |
mediastinum | Region between lungs in the chest cavity; contains trachea, hear, aorta, esophagus, and bronchial tubes. |
adenoids | Small masses of lymphatic tissue in the throat, close to the nasal(nose) passageway. |
alveoli | Air sac in the lungs |
bronchioles | Small brances of the bronchi; terminal bronchioles lead to alveolar ducts. |
laryngectomy | Removal of larynx or voice box. |
diaphragm | muscle sparating the chest and abdomen. It contracts and relaxes to make breathing possible. |

asbestosis | abnormal condition of asbestos fiber particles in lungs. |

croup | acute viral infection in infants and children; characterized by barking cough, obstruction of larynx and stridor |

asthma | chronic inflammation disorder; characterized by airway obstruction and caused by bronchial edema, bronchonstriction, and increased mucus production. |
atelectasis | collapsed lung |
expectoration | coughing up of mucus or sputum from the throat and respiratory tract. |

hemopysis | to stop or control the escape of blood by artifical means or by clotting. |
endotracheal intubation | tube is placed through the mouth and throat into the trachea to establish an airway. |
