urticaria | allergic reaction of the skin characterized by eruption of pale red elevated patches called wheals or hives |
antifugals | alter cell wall of fungi or disrupt enzyme activity resulting in cell death |
ulcer | an open sore or lesion that extends to the dermis and usually heals with scarring |
purpura | any of several bleeding disorders characterized by hemorrhage into the tissues particularly beneath the skin or mucous membranes producing ecchymoses or petechiae |
eechymoses | superficial bleeding under skin or bruise. |

psoriasis | chronic skin disease characterized by circumscribed red patches covered by thick, dry, silvery, adherent scales caused by excessive development of the basal layer of the epidermis |
scabies | contagious skin disease transmitted by the itch mite, commonly through sexual contact |
protectives | cover, cool, dry or soothe inflamed skin |
eschar | dead matter that sloughed off from the surface of the skin, especially after burn |
corticosteriods | decrease inflammation and itching by suppressing the immune system's inflammatory response to tissue damage |
keratolytics | destroy and soften the outer layer of skin so that it is sloughed off or shed |
cellulitis | diffuse (widespread) acute infection of the skin and subcutaneous tissue |
vesicle | elevated circumscribed fluid filled lesion less than 0.5 cm in diameter |
wheal | elevated firm rounded lesion with localized skin edema (swelling) that varies in size shape and colour; in the centre than its surrounding edges ; accompaine by itching |
verruca | epidermal growth caused by a virus; also known as warts. Type includes planter, juvenile and veneral |
macule | flat pigmented circumscribe area less than 1 cm in diameter freckle, mole |
Bowen Disease | form of intraepidermal carcinoma characterized by red-brown scaly or crusted lesions that resemble a patch of psoriasis or dermatitis; also called Bowen precancerous dermatotis |
synthesis | forming a complex substance by the union of simpler compounds or elements |
tinea | fungal skin infection whose name commonly indicates the body part affected; also called ringworm |
androgen | generic term for an agent (usually hormone, such as testosterone and androsterone) that stimulates development of male characteristics |
dermatomycosis | infection of skin caused by fungi |
pediculosis | infestation of lice, transmitted by personal contact |
pressure ulcer | inflammation, sore, skin deterioration caused by prolonged pressure from lying down; also called bed sore, usually in elderly bedridden persons can also be referred to as decubitus ulcers. |
