cyst | Thick-walled, closed sac or pouch containing fluid or semisolid material. Lesion. |
ulcer | Open sore on the skin or mucous membranes within the body. Lesion. |
wheal | Smooth, slightly elevated, edematous (swollen) area that is redder or paler than the surrounding skin. Lesion. |
acne | Chronic papular and pustular eruption of the skin with increased production of sebum. |
eczema | Inflammatory skin disease with erythematous, papulovesicular lesions. |
gangrene | Death of tissue associated with loss of blood supply. |
systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) | Chronic autoimmune inflammatory disease of collagen in the skin, of joints and of internal organs. |
tinea | Infection of the skin caused by fungus. |
vitiligo | Loss of pigment in areas of the skin. |
callus | Increased growth of cells in the keratin layer of the epidermis caused by pressure or friction. |
nevus | Pigmented lesion of the skin. |
verruca | Epidermal growth (wart) caused by a virus. |
Kaposi sarcoma | Malignant, vascular, neoplastic growth characterized by cutaneous nodules. |
herpes | any of several inflammatory diseases of the skin caused by herpes viruses and characterized by a cluster of vesicles. |
keratosis | A disease of the skin marked by overgrowth of horny tissue |
lesion | an abnormal change in structure of an organ or part due to injury or disease |
benign | Of a mild type or character that does not threaten health or life |
abscess | Localized, pus containing pocket caused by a bacterial infection |
