Vas deferens | Tube that carries sperm out of the epididymis to the prostatic urethra |
Spermatic cord | Strand of connective tissue extending from the abdomen to each testicle |
Median septum | Divides the scrotum, isolating each testicle |
Cremaster muscle | Surrounding the spermatic cord, it contracts in cold weather to draw the testes closer to the body for warmth |
Rete testis | Network of vessels leading away from the seminiferous tubules; provide a location in which sperm partially mature |
Efferent ductules | Conduct immature sperm away from the testis to the epididymis |
Seminal vesicle | Located at the base of the bladder; secretes a thick, yellowish fluid into the ejaculatory duct that comprises about 60% of semen |
Bulbourethral glands | Secretes a clear fluid during sexual arousal; serves as a lubricant and neutralizes the acidity of residual urine in the urethra; Cowper's glands |
