Hemoglobin A1 | Compound formed when glucose attaches or glycosylates to the protein in hemoglobin. |
Hyperglycemia | An abnormally high level of glucose int he blood. |
Hypoglycemia | An abnormally low level of glucose in the blood. |
In vitro | Occurring in glass. Refers to test performed under artificial conditions, as in the laboratory. |
LDL cholesterol | A lipoprotein, consisting of protein and cholesterol, that picks up cholesterol and delivers it to the cells. |
Lipoprotein | A complex molecule consisting of protein and a liquid fraction such as cholesterol. Lipoprotein functions in transporting liquids in the blood. |
Recipient | One who receives something, such as blood transfusion, from a donor. |
