peripheral   means outwards or near the surface, the eyelid is peripheral to the eye

deep   describes parts that are more internal, the heart is deep to the skin

planes   imaginary flat surfaces that pass through the human body

sagittal   refers to a lengthwise cut that divides the body into right and left sides  
🗑
median   divides the body into equal parts

parasagittal   divides the body into unequal parts  
🗑
transverse   refers to a cut that divides the body into upper and lower portions

coronal   refers to a section that divides the body into anterior and posterior portions
