Explain the diagnostic significance of a iron test. What can the result tell the medical provider?   Iron level tells whether or not the patient needs more iron supplements or not. Iron is available in two forms heme and nonheme. Heme forms of iron are found in meat and poultry. Nonheme iron is found in vegetables and grains.

What can abnormaly high and low iron levels indicate?   Abnormally low iron levels of iron can indicate blood loss, poor diet, or an inability to absorb enough iron from the foods you eat.Abnormally high levels indicates certain genetic disorders such as Haemochromatosis which can cause iron loading.
