Anatomical position   This is when your body is erect, feet are slightly apart, and your thumbs are pointing away from the body. This is how we always view the body.

Directional Terms   Used to describe the anatomical position of a part in relation to another.

Superior   Toward the head, or above something.

Inferior   Below, or lower in position.

Ventral (anterior)   Towards the front of something.

Dorsal (posterior)   Towards the back of the body. (spine is dorsal to your stomach)

Medial   Toward the midline of the body. ( >{}< )

Lateral   away from the midline of the body ( <{}> )

Proximal   Closer to the attachment or limb to the body trunk.
