ADH   Antidiuretic hormone – Hormone that increases reabsorption of water.

Diuretics   Chemicals that increase urine volume by decreasing water absorption.

Proteinuria   Presence of protein in the urine.

Hematuria   Presence of intact red blood cells in the urine.

Glycosuria   Presence of glucose in the urine.

Ketonuria   Presence of excessive amount of ketone bodies in the urine. Also called ketoaciduria.

Casts   Formed protein secretions that are deposited in the urine in kidney disease.

R & M   Routine and microscopic – routine chemical and microscopic analysis of urine usually using a dip-stick method.
