melanoma   a tumor of melanin-forming cells, typically a malignant tumor associated with skin cancer.

nails   a small metal spike with a broadened flat head, driven typically into wood with a hammer to join things together or to serve as a peg or hook.

pressure sores   are an injury to the skin and underlying tissue. They can range from mild reddening of the skin.

pressure ulcers   bedsores and decubitus ulcers, are localized damage to the skin and/or underlying tissue that usually occur over a bony prominence .

sebaceous glands   a small gland in the skin which secretes a lubricating oily matter (sebum) into the hair follicles to lubricate the skin and hair.

subcutaneous   situated or applied under the skin.

ulcers   an open sore on an external or internal surface of the body, caused by a break in the skin or mucous membrane that fails to heal.

urticaria   a rash of round, red welts on the skin that itch intensely, sometimes with dangerous swelling, caused by an allergic reaction, typically to specific foods
