ARRHYTHMIAS   Abnromal heart rhythms associated with problems with the conduction or electricla system of the heart.

HEART BLOCK   Failure of proper conductionm of impulses through the AV node to the atrioventricular bundle(Bundle of HIs).

FLUTTER   rapid but regular contractions of atria or ventricles. Heart ryhthms may reach up to 130 beats per minutes.

FIBRILLATION   Rapid, random, ineffectual, and irregular contractions fo the heart. (350 beats or more per minute)

DEFIBRILLATOR   Electrical device applied to the chest wall that is used to restore normal heart rhythm.

CARDIAC ARREST   The sudden and often unexpected stoppage of heart movement caused by a heart blockage or ventricular fibrillation.

PALPITATIONS   Uncomfortable sensations in the chest associated with different types of arrythmias.

CONGESTIVE HEART FAILURE   The heart is unable to pump its required amount of blood. (more blood enters the heart than leaves the heart - causes a backup in the 2 circulatory circuits)

PULMONARY EDEMA   Fluid seeps out of capillaries in to the timy air sacs of the lungs due to blood accumulation in the lungs. (CHF)

ARTHEROSCLEROSIS   Deposition of fatty compounds on the inner lining of the coronary arteries. (hardening of the artieries)

THROMBIC OCCLUSION   blocking o fhte coronary artery by a clot.

ISCHEMIA   blood condition where blood is decreased or stopped entirely.  
🗑
INFARCTION   Area of dead myocardial tissue.  
🗑
NITROGLYCERIN   A powerful vasodilator that increases coronary blood flow and lowers blood pressure in order to decrease the work of the heart.

ENDOCARDITIS   Inflammation of the inner lining of the heart caused by a bacterial infection.  
🗑
HYPERTENSION   High blood pressure affecting the heart due to the narrowing of arterioles. Heart has to pump more vigorously to overcome the increased resistance in the arteries.

MURMUR   An extra heart sound heard between normal beats.  
🗑
PERICARDITIS   Inflammation of the membrane (pericardium) surrounding the heart.  
🗑
ANEURYSM   localized widening of an arterial wall. Common in the aorta.  
🗑
PERIPHERAL VASCULAR DISEASE   Blockage of blood vessels outside the heart.  
🗑
VARICOSE VEINS   Abnormally swollen and twisted veins, usually ocurring in the legs.  
🗑
HEMORRHOIDS   Varicose veins near the anus.
