Department of Health and Human Services, studies the cause and distribution of diseases. Formulates safety guidelines to help prevent and control the spread of infectious disease.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) | Government agency under the department of labor
Function- Establishes minimum health and safety standards for the workplace and the enforce those standards

Methods used to make the patient, the worker, and the environment as pathogens free as possible
2 types of Asepsis:
1. Medical Asepsis-Clean technique
2. Surgical Asepsis-Sterile technique
