| exudate | Drainage, material such as fluid and cells, that has escaped from blood vessels during inflammatory process. Deposited in the tissue or on tissue surfaces and is often present in a wound.

| serous exudate | consist chiefly of serum the clear portion of blood. Clear and watery. Example is fluid in blister of burn.

| sangineous exudate | Red and consists of RBC. Results when cappilaries are damaged, frequently seen in open wounds. Bright red indicates fresh bleeding ad dark red indicates older bleeding.

| purulent exudate | Contains pus(leukocytes, dead liquefied tissue debris, dead and living bacteria). Thick and unpleasent odor, white in color, ut may acquire tinges of pink, green, or yellow.

| serosanguineous exudate | clear and blood tinged drainage and is commonly seen in surgical incision.

| purosanguineous exudate | pus and blood and is often seen in new wound that is infected.
