exudate   Drainage, material such as fluid and cells, that has escaped from blood vessels during inflammatory process. Deposited in the tissue or on tissue surfaces and is often present in a wound.

serous exudate   consist chiefly of serum the clear portion of blood. Clear and watery. Example is fluid in blister of burn.

sangineous exudate   Red and consists of RBC. Results when cappilaries are damaged, frequently seen in open wounds. Bright red indicates fresh bleeding ad dark red indicates older bleeding.

purulent exudate   Contains pus(leukocytes, dead liquefied tissue debris, dead and living bacteria). Thick and unpleasent odor, white in color, ut may acquire tinges of pink, green, or yellow.

suppuration   pus formation

serosanguineous exudate   clear and blood tinged drainage and is commonly seen in surgical incision.

purosanguineous exudate   pus and blood and is often seen in new wound that is infected.
