A review of the Amendments included in the NYS Regents

6th Amendment Right to a speedy trial, to a jury, to know the charges against you, and to face witnesses against you.

8th Amendment No excessive bail or fines. No cruel or unusual punishment
13th Amendment Abolished slavery
14th Amendment Equal protection and due process for all citizens. Everyone born in the US is a citizen. Bill of Rights now applies to the states
15th Amendment African American men can vote
16th Amendment Direct collection of income tax
17th Amendment Direct election of Senators
18th Amendment Prohibition
19th Amendment Women get the right to vote
21st Amendment Repealed prohibition
26th Amendment Set voting age at 18
