Medical Terminology

TermDefinition
DDX : Differential Diagnosis Several test used to make a final diagnose on the cause of a patients symptoms, or condition.
BMI : Body Mass Index Measures of a patients height and weight to indicate if a patient is healthy or unhealthy.
PMHx : Past Medical History A record of the patients previous illness, allergies, exams results, etc.
NAD : No Acute Distress The patients is well and no signs of severe illness.
I/O : Input/Output The measurement of fluids that are entering and leaving the body.
Addison’s Disease A disorder that causes the adrenal lands to not produce sufficient hormones.
Gilbert’s Syndrome A inherited condition in which the liver can’t process bilirubin.
Hodgkin’s Disease Cancer of the lymphatic system which enables the body to properly fight infections.
Pott’s Disease Is tuberculosis of the spine which cause your spine to deteriorate.
Meige Syndrome A neurological facial disorder that causes involuntary facial spasms.
Idiopathic Unknown cause of the disease.
Pruritus Itching in any part of the body.
Ecchymosis A large bruise caused by rupture of blood vessels under the skin.
Angina Chest paint caused by insufficient blood flow to the heart.
Edema Swelling caused by to much fluid from tissues in the body.
