| delegate | individuals who are selected to represent others |
| bill | a proposed law |
| bicameral | having a two house legislative body (the Senate and the House of Representatives in the USA) |
| political action committee (or PAC) | provides financial support to candidates |
| platform | a list of a political party's views |
| poll | questions people's opinion on the issues |
| pluralism | a with many conflicting groups |
| cabinet | a group of presidential advisors |
| lobbyist | person who tries to influence law makers (provides information; an interest group) |
| veto | to reject a law (an action of the President) |
| vote | to make a choice for a candidate |
| government | the institution that controls society through laws |
| conservative | people who believe in more personal freedom and less government involvement (Republicans) |
