| VII - Facial | Facial expression and muscle movement, salivation and tearing, taste, sensation in the ear, anterior 2/3 of the tongue. |
| VIII - Acoustic | Hearing and equilibrium. |
| IX - Glossopharyngeal | Taste, sensation in pharynx and tongue (posterior 1/3), pharyngeal muscles, swallowing and gag reflex. |
| X - Vagus | Muscles of the pharynx, larynx, and soft palate, sensation in external ear, pharynx, larynx, thoracic and abdominal viscera; parasympathetic innervation of thoracic and abdominal organs. |
| XI - Spinal Accessory | Sternocleidomastoid and trapezius muscles. |
| XII - Hypoglossal | Movement of the tongue. |
