| Caucus | A group of like-minded people who meet to select the candidate they will support in an upcoming election |
| Federalist | One who supports the ratification of the constitution |
| Conservative | Seeks to keep in place the economic, political and social structures of society |
| Incumbent | the current officeholder |
| Exit poll | a poll of voters taken immediately after they exit the polling stations |
| Nomination | the process of candidate selection in an electoral system |
| Political Party | a group of people who seek to control government through the winning of elections and holding of public office |
| Political spectrum | A way of modeling different political positions by placing them upon one or more geometric axes symbolizing independent political dimensions |
| Primary | A preliminary election where delegates or nominees are chosen |
| Minor Party | One of the political parties not widely supported |
| Transfer | Use symbols to accomplish purposes that are not intended |
