| government | a group of people who make rules and laws, carry out rules and laws, and decide if rules or laws have been broken |

| what is the purpose of rules and laws? | to keep people safe and maintain order |
| what is the purpose of government | to make laws, carry out laws, and decide if laws have been broken |
| Why are governments necessary? | They make laws |
| Judicial Government | Decides if laws have been broken. For example, Kennith was playing with a paper boat at the beach, but he is distracted at his boats travels so far he can not reach it. He is taken to court(the judicial system) and a judge decides if he broke the law. |
| Executive Government | Carries out laws, the President's Role. For example,the President says throwing paper products in the ocean counts as trash and anyone who breaks this law will pay the consequences. |
| Legislative | Makes laws. For example. Legislation/Congress says no one can throw trash in the ocean |
