Direct Democracy People directly vote on everything
Indirect Democracy People vote on people to represent them
Autocracy Dictatorship in which single person holds all power
Oligarchy Dictatorship in which a small group holda all the power
Unitary Government All power belongs to a single, central agency; this government creates local units for its own convenience
Federal Government Powers of government are divided between central and local governments
Division of Powers Seperation of local and central government power
Confederation Alliance of independent states
Presidential Government Exec and legisl branches are seperate and coequal; president is independently elected
Parliamentary Gov't Executive is made up of prime minister and his/her cabinet; all are members of legislative branch
