Cardiovasculaar System (Spelling)

Palpitation Pounding or raising of the heart
Pulmonary Artery One of a pair of arteries that transports deoxygeneted blood from the right ventrical of the heart
Pulmonary Circulation Circulation of deoxygenated blood from the right ventrical of the heart
Systemic Circulation The circulation of blood from left ventricle of the heart throughout the body and back to the right atrium of the heart
Systole The contraction phase of the hearbeat forcing blood into the aorta and pulmonary arteries
Vasoconstriction Narrowing of the lumen of a blood vessel
Vegetation Abnormal growth of tissue around a valve
Aneurysm Localized dilation of a weakend area of the wall of an artery
Atherosclerosis A form of arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) characterized by fatty deposits within the inner layer of walls.
Bruit Abnormal sound or murmur heard with a stethoscope
Coronary Artery One of a pair of arteries that branch from the aorta
Cusp Small flaps on the valves
Diastole Period of relaxation of the heart (systole)
Dysrhythmia Abnormal rhythm
Endocarditis Inflammation of the inner lining of the heart
Hypertension Elevated blood pressure
Hypotension Low blood pressure
Infarction Localized area of necrosis(death) in tissue resulting from lack of oxygen
Mediastinum Area between the lungs in the chest cavity
Pacemaker The SA node of the heart located in the right atrium
