words you need to know for CRCT

| revision/revised | to alter/change something already written or printed, in order to make corrections or to improve it |
| demonstrate | to describe, explain, or illustrate by examples |
| opposing viewpoint | opposite view or opinion (like the Knockback in a persuasive essay) |
| engage the reader | grab the reader's attention |
| establish a context | the most important reason in a persuasive essay or paragraph (like the POW Moment) |
| phrase | a group of words such as a verb phrase (was walking) or prepositional phrase (at the store) or transitional phrase (as you can see) |
| transition word or phrase | connectors that tie one idea or sentence to another (another, however, most importantly, since...) |
| chronological order | time order (first, next, last....) |
| spatial order | words or phrases that organize details according to their location (on the left side, in front of, behind...) |
| cause and effect | a relationship between actions or events such that the effect is the result of the cause |
| coherence | when the details in a paragraph are arranged and connected in a way that makes sense |
| relate | to have some relation to |
| irrelevant | not related or applicable to the topic - not important |
| relevant | is related or applicable to the topic - important |
| source | a reference source to find information about a topic |
| bibliography | a list of reference sources used |
