What offices make up the branch? President, Vice President and the Cabinet
Who chooses the members of each office? The president chooses the cabinet and the people/ electoral college ellect the president and the vice president
What are the qualifications for the president? 35 years old, natural born citizen and has lived in the US for 14 years
How long are the terms? 4 years
What powers does the branch have? can negociate or sign treaties with other countries, can veto laws and pocket veto, is commander and chief of armed forces and can move forces, can enforce laws and run federal agencies, can grant pardons and reprieves
What are the roles or duties of each office? Chief Diplomat- talks with other countries, commander in chief- army, Chief Legislater- can ask fellow members to make bills, Chief Guardian of the economy- helps economy
What are some ways to remove the President from office? Impeachment, death, unable to carry out the duties of office, is not re-elected, resign and term limit
What happens if a member leaves office? if president dies the vice president takes over, if both the president and the vice president die then speaker of house becomes the presiden
How is the branch checked and balanced by Congress? President needs approval to appoint cabinet members, ambassadors, judges, officers, etc. Can override presidential veto with 2/3 majority in both houses. Senate must ratify any treaties or other agreements made by the President
How is the branch checked and balanced by the Supreme court and itself? Supreme court can declare a law that the president made unconstitutional Cabinet members provide information to president.
