| hemoconcentration | an increase in the concentration of the nonfilterable blood components in the blood vessels, such as RBCs, enzymes, iron, and calcium, as a result of a decrease in the fluid content of the blood |
| hemolysis | the breakdown of the blood cells |
| osteochondritise | inflammation of the bone and cartilage |
| osteomyelitis | inflammation of the bone as a result of bacterial infection |
| phelbotomist | a health care professional trained in the collection of blood |
| phelbotomy | incision of a vein for removal of blood; the collection of blood |
| plasma | the liquid part of the blood consisting of a clear, straw colored fluid that comprises approx. 55% of blood volume. |
