deep located further away from the surface of the body and more towards the inside
superficial located close to or on the surface of the body
abdominal the body part between the chest and the pelvis
antecubital the triangular depression located on the front side of the elbow joint
gluteal the area of the buttocks or the muscles located there
axillary the pyramidal space located between the upper arm and chest wall
brachial of or relating to the arm
inguinal the lower part of the stomach where the torso meets the legs
buccal relating to, neat, or involving the cheek or the sides of the mouth
calcaneal the largest and strongest bone in the human foot
lumbar lower back region of the body and the specific part of the spinal column situated between the chest spine and the pelvic region
carpal eight small irregular bones that make up the human wrist, connecting the forearm bones to the metacarpal bones of the hand
cephalic relating to the head or directed toward the head end of the body
nasal the large air-filled internal space above and behind the nose that acts as a primary entrance to the respiratory system
cervical the neck region or the neck-like portion of any body structure
coxal the hip bone, a large. irregular bone that forms part of the pelvis
occipital the back of the head
digital relating to a finger or a toe
femoral relating to the femur or the thigh
olecranal relating to or located near the tip of the elbow
oral first part of the digestive system and an airway where food and air enter the body
orbital bone cavity or eye socket in the skull that houses and protects the eyeball, extraocular muscles, nerves, blood vessels, and tear-producing glands
patellar the kneecap, located at the front of the knee joint
scapular flat triangular bone located on the upper back that connects the upper arm to the collarbone and chest wall
sternal a long, flat bone located in the center of the chest that forms the front part of the rib cage and protects vital organs
tarsal a cluster of seven short, irregularly shaped bones in the human foot that form the ankle and heel area
pelvic a brain-shaped ring of bones located at the base of the spine that connects the trunk to the legs and protects internal organs
popliteal area located at the back of the knee joint
sacral a large, triangular bone at the base of the spine that forms the back of the pelvis
thoracic the area of the body located between the neck and the abdomen
umbilical refer to the umbilicus and the umbilical cord which connects a developing fetus to the placenta
vertebral a flexible chain of individual bones that houses the spinal cord, supports the upper body, and gives structural support
