TermDefinition
democracy power is held by the people, who exercise it directly or through elective representitives
Autocracy A single individual holds absolute power, often through inheritance or force.
Oligarchy Power rests with a small, elite group distinguished by wealth, family, or military power.
Theocracy Government ruled by religious leaders or divine guidance.
Federal System Power is shared between a national government and state/local governments, balancing local concerns with national unity
Unitary System Supreme power resides in a centralized national government, which may delegate power to sub-national units.
Confederal System: A weak central government derives power from a loose alliance of strong independent states.
Branches of Government: The U.S has three different branches of government , executuve (the pres, (legislatuve, (senate and House of reps) , and Judical (supreme court)
Federalism divides power betweeen federal and state levels in the constitution.
