| democracy | power is held by the people, who exercise it directly or through elective representitives |
| Autocracy | A single individual holds absolute power, often through inheritance or force. |
| Oligarchy | Power rests with a small, elite group distinguished by wealth, family, or military power. |
| Theocracy | Government ruled by religious leaders or divine guidance. |
| Federal System | Power is shared between a national government and state/local governments, balancing local concerns with national unity |
| Unitary System | Supreme power resides in a centralized national government, which may delegate power to sub-national units. |
| Confederal System: | A weak central government derives power from a loose alliance of strong independent states. |
| Branches of Government: | The U.S has three different branches of government , executuve (the pres, (legislatuve, (senate and House of reps) , and Judical (supreme court) |
| Federalism | divides power betweeen federal and state levels in the constitution. |
