Respiratory System
| Term | Definition |

| Oxygen | Supplies all cells in the body from the atmosphere. |
| Cellular Respiration | Uses oxygen to generate energy that allows us to move and think. |
| Supply body with oxygen. | Major function of the respiratory system. |
| Exhaling | Removes Co2 from the body. |
| Arteries | Carry blood AWAY from heart. |
| Veins | Carries blood INTO the heart. |
| Pharynx | Connects nasal cavity and mouth to larynx |
| Esophagus | Food goes down this tube. |
| Larynx | Provides an airway and is also called the voice box. |
| Epiglottis | Flap that closes when swallowing food located above the larynx. |
| Lungs | Spongy sac organs used for breathing located in the chest cavity. |
| Alveolus | Protruding structures at the end of the bronchioles. |
