A&P Cartilage
Exam 2
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| What are chondroblasts? | immature cell types(secrete matrix) located under the perichondrium. Here they get alot of nourishment. |
| Where are the blood vessels located? | They are located in the perichondrium, bot in cartilage. |
| Where is cartilage found? | In places of high pressure |
| How is high pressure beneficial to cartilage health? | it forces nurtients out of the pericondrium into the cartilage and wastes are puched out |
| What is appositional growth? | Adding more matrix on TOP of the origional, which makes it grow wider. |
| What is Intersticial growth? | growth within the tissues. chondroblasts will divide and will puch each other apart by laying matrix. |
| What is Hyaline Cartilage? | cartilage within the joints. it has a smooth and glossy appearance which reduces friction. |
| What is elastic cartilage? | stretches due to elastic fibers. it can be found in the outer ears and in the epiglottis(covers the respiratory tract during swallowing). |
| What is fibrocartilage? | made up of lots of fibers. it is found making up the miniscus and the pubic synthesis. |
| What it cartilage? | Intermediate between dense connective tissue and bone. It is avascular. Nourished by the pericardium. |
| what is the perichondrium? | surrounds the cartilage(connective tissue). |
