Twelve Cranial Nerves

| 1 Sensory | Olfactory Nerve Smell |
| 2 Sensory | Optic Sight |
| 3 Motor | Oculomotor Controls eye movement, pupil constriction, and maintains an open eye lid |
| 4 Motor | Trochlear Downward and inward eye movement |
| 5 Both Sensory and Motor | Trigeminal Sensation to Face, Controls chewing, has three branches |
| 6 Motor | Abducens lateral rectus muscle, lateral eye movement |
| 7 Both | Facial facial expressions, taste from anterior 2 / 3rds of tongue, controls some glands (like salivary) |
| 8 Sensory | Vestibulocochlear Hearing and balance, equilibrium |
| 9 Both | Glossopharyngeal taste sensation to posterior 1/3 of tongue, swallowing, saliva production, blood pressure regulation |
| 10 Both | Vagus Regulates heart rate, digestion, respiratory rate |
| 11 Motor | Accessory Controls specific movement in head, neck, shoulders shoulder elevation and head rotation |
| 12 Motor | Hypoglossal tongue movements for speech swallowing and food manipulation |
