QuestionAnswer
What are the main components of blood? Platelets (clotting), Leukocytes (white blood cells for immunity), and Erythrocytes (red blood cells for oxygen transport).
What are the four chambers of the heart? Right atrium, Right ventricle, Left atrium, Left ventricle.
Trace the flow of blood through the heart starting at the right atrium. Right atrium → Right ventricle → Pulmonary arteries → Lungs → Pulmonary veins → Left atrium → Left ventricle → Aorta → Body.
What are the three layers of blood vessel structure? Tunica intima (inner), Tunica media (middle, smooth muscle), Tunica externa (outer).
What are the primary functions of the lymphatic system? Fluid balance, defense against pathogens, absorption of dietary fats.
What are cytotoxic T cells, antigen-presenting cells, and memory T-cells responsible for? Cytotoxic T cells kill infected cells; APCs present antigens to activate immune cells; Memory T cells provide long-term immunity.
What does surfactant do in the respiratory system? Reduces surface tension in the alveoli to prevent lung collapse and make breathing easier.
How many lobes does each lung have? Right lung = 3 lobes; Left lung = 2 lobes.
What are the accessory organs of the digestive system? Liver, gallbladder, pancreas, salivary glands.
Why might a patient need gallbladder surgery (cholecystectomy)? To remove the gallbladder due to gallstones, inflammation, or blockage of bile ducts.
