What are the 3 oragans that food does not pass through, but store enzymes & chemicals that help break down food as it passes through the digestive tract? Liver, pancreas and gallbladder
What does saliva contain? Mucus and salivary amylase
Where do the digestive juices added to the small intestine come from? The liver and pancreas.
What does the liver do? It produces a greenish fluid called bile, which is stored in the gallbladder. The acid from the stomach makes large fat particles float to the top of the liquid. Bile physicallly breaks these fat particles into smaller pieces.
What are the targets of autonomic regulation (5)? -Smooth muscle -Cardiac muscle -Metabolism (liver) -Hormones (kidneys) -Secretory glands
What is the function of the sympathetic division of the ANS? Energy use; fight or flight response.
What is the function of the parasympathetic division of the ANS? Energy conservation; rest and digest.
Olfactory and gustatory send impulses to what specific part of the body The cerebral cortex, then the limbic system
The process of smelling a flower starts a domino effect of events eventually leading to which part of the brain for processing Temporal lobe
The accessory structures of the eye include: extraocular muscles, palpebra, conjunctiva, and lacrimal glands and ducts.
