Week 1-5 Human Anatomy

| Anatomy | The scientific study of the structure and relationships of body parts. |
| Physiology | The study of how body parts function to maintain life. |
| Sagittal Plane | Divides the body into left and right portions. The midsagittal plane divides it equally. |
| Muscle Tissue | Specialized tissue that contracts to produce movement; includes skeletal, cardiac, and smooth muscle. |
| Homeostasis | The body's ability to maintain a stable internal environment despite external changes. |
| Epithelial Tissue | Covers body surfaces, lines cavities, and forms glands; functions include protection, secretion, and absorption. |
| Connective Tissue | Supports, protects, and binds other tissues; examples include bone, cartilage, and blood. |
| Nervous Tissue | Tissue that transmits electrical impulses and coordinates body activities; includes neurons and neuroglia. |
| Anatomical Position | The standard body position: standing upright, facing forward, arms at sides, palms facing forward. |
| Transverse Plane | Divides the body into superior (upper) and inferior (lower) portions; also called a horizontal plane. |
