What is the function of the lymphatic system? transportation and defense
What are the major systems? integumentary, skeletal, muscular, nervous, endocrine, cardiovascular, lymphatic, respiratory, digestive, reproductive
what is tissue? group of similar cells that perform the same function
what are the different tissue types? epithelial, connective, muscle, nervous
what is matrix? intercellular substance that surrounds tissue cells
name the characteristics of life responsiveness, conductivity, growth, respiration, digestion, absorption, secretion, excretion, circulation, reproduction
what is the anatomical position? body erect, arms at sides, palms facing forward, head and feet forward
what position is the patient in if they are laying on their back facing upward? supine
what is prone? laying face down
what is inferior? toward the feet
anterior is the back, true or false? false
what is medial? toward the middle of the body
what is proximal? toward or nearest the trunk of the body OR nearest point of origin of one of its part
what is distal? away from or farthest from trunk OR point of origin of body part
if the body is cut into left and right planes, what cut was made? sagittal
