Sagittal A plane through the body that divides the body into right and left sides

Centrosome The microtubule organizing center
Lysosome The structure in cells that is associated with the enzymatic breakdown (digestion) of foreign material
Diaphysis The region of a long bone that contains the medullary cavity
The epiphyseal plate A layer of hyaline cartilage found between the epiphysis (end of the bone) and the diaphysis (shaft) in a growing juvenile. It is responsible for the bone’s lengthwise growth.
Epidermal The outer skin layer.
Hypodermis The structure that lies deep to the dermis and forms a connection between the skin and the underlying structures of the body
Melanin The basic determinant of skin color
