Two types of chemical bonds that unite atoms to larger structures are; ionic & covalent - define each Ionic bonds - Chemical bond formed by the transfer of electrons from one atom to another Covalent bonds - Chemical bond formed by the sharing of one or more pairs of electrons between the outer energy level of two atoms
What does the atomic number tell us? The number of protons in the nucleus
How is an ionic bond formed? A + and a - ion attract to each other
What is the Golgi Apparatus? A membranous organelle consisting of separate tiny sacs stacked on one another located near the nucleus
What is a plasma membrane composed of? Phospholipids, cholesterol, and glycoproteins
Which type of junction is formed when membrane channels of adjacent plasma membranes adhere to each other? Gap Junction
