govt definition Means by which society organized itself and how it allocates authority in order to accomplish collective goals and provide benefits that the society needed
functions of govt national defense, provide public goods/services, preserve order, collect taxes, socialize the young
elite theory a set of elite citizens is really in charge of government in the United States and that others have no influence
pluralist theory political power rests with competing interest groups who share influence in government
private goods goods and services provided by for profit private businesses (food, clothing, and housing)

house of representatives 2 year term, only govt branch directly elected by people, must be 25 and a citizen for 7 years and live in state
senate 6 year term, 2 per state, must be 30, citizen for nine years and live in state
article 3 establishes supreme court as highest in the land

article 6 constitution is supreme law of the land
article 7 ratification process ( 9 states need to ratify)
