Function of body systems

Skeletal system supports and protects the body, aids body movements, stores minerals
Muscular system produces body movements, generates heat
Nervous system generates action potential to regulates body activities
Endocrine system releases hormones
Cardiovascular system: heart pumps blood, through blood vessels, blood carries oxygen and nutrients to cells
Digestive system breaks down food, absorbs nutrients, eliminates wastes
Urinary system produces, stores and eliminates urine, eliminates wastes, maintains bodys’ mineral balance
Lymphatic system returnes protein and fluid to blood, protects against diseases
Respiratory system transfers oxygen from inhaled air to blood and carbon dioxide from blood to exhaled air
Reproductive system regulates reproduction
