gonads A sex gland; testis or ovary
gametes A mature reproductive cell, the spermatozoon in the male and the ovum in the female
meiosis The type of cell division that forms the gametes; it results in cells with 23 chromosomes; half the number found in other body cells (from the Greek word meiosis meaning “diminution”)
urethra The duct that carries urine out of the body and also transports semen in the male (root: urethr/o)
spermatozoon Mature male sex cell
testes The male reproductive gland (roots: test/o, orchi/o, orchid/o); plural is testes (TES-teze); also called testicle
scrotum A double pouch that contains the testes
inguinal canal The channel through which the testis descends into the scrotum in the male
oviducts fallopian tubes
ovary
endmentium the thick lining i the uterus
penis used for both urination and sexual intercourse
forskin is retractable fold of skin which cover the end of the penis
scrotum is a bag of skin which contains the testes
uretha is hollow tube which transports urine from the bladder to the outside the body
sperm duct transport sperm away from the testes where sperm is made
